WWCS Topic of the Week

Last weeks topic, we wanted to know what is your favorite activity during the "Wintery" months. Please post what would be the perfect vacation during the Winter Season? Would rather you head to the beach, to escape all the cold weather or want to pack your ski's and head to the mountains. You tell us what vacation you prefer during the Winter Season.

I'm torn with giving just one answer to this question. I love snow, and I love to ski. However, I also love the Florida Keys. So really, there are two perfect vacations for the winter ;) This year, I already have one long weekend planned to snowmobile, and one long weekend to visit my brother and his family in Florida for January. I always used to travel the the Florida Keys on winter break in college. It was my family's summer vacation because we had a greenhouse business, we always waited until winter to take time off for vacation.

Swap Updates:
WWCS Update: Picking up the last part of my partners package after work today, and sending out shortly.

Christmas Around The World Knitters Swap Update: Received my package, (Thanks Sam!) and my downstream partner should be receiving hers shortly.

SP11 Update: My downstream partner received her final package and discovered my identity. (Hey Pooch! I am glad to hear you and the pups enjoyed your package!) My upstream partner revealed herself to me. Karla, thank you for spoiling me so much thus far! I definitely don't mind waiting for my last package. I have already added you to my Bloglines.

Christmas bells are ringing...

My Christmas Around The World Knitter's Swap Package has arrived! The mailman saga continues. He did have the house correct this time, but he decided not to leave the package. (No, would that be too easy?) He left me a slip in the mailbox in order to have me pick it up at the post office instead. I guess I should consider that an improvement...

My partner, Sam, individually wrapped each gift. Sam made me a beautiful Christmas themed needle roll with some Pony Rosewood needles inside. I've always wanted to try working with Rosewood and now I have no excuse! I also received some sock needles and a skein of Magic Stripes Yarn. More sock knitting supplies, I can't wait to try them out! I also got a copy of a the UK "Simply Knitting" magazine with some Yankee candles, yummy Sat Suma soap, a 2008 planner/journal and Cadbury chocolate. Sam also made me some beautiful handmade stitch markers and a cute snowman ornament for my tree. Thank you so much Sam!
What a lovely package to start off this Christmas season!

WWCS Topic of the Week

For many people, Winter is a time of cold weather and snow - and many fun outdoor activities that can only be enjoyed during those times! What’s YOUR favorite activity in Winter, and is it even outdoors??

I LOVE snow. I couldn't imagine a winter without it. I ski, sled, and just simply love playing outside in the snow. Some of my best winter memories are riding in the snow. My horses have always been into it, and it's always fun to go out bareback on a furry horse for a ride through the snow. This year I already have made plans to go for a long weekend snowmobiling. I have gone before, but I was too young to remember. (I've seen pictures)

Next Post: WIP updates and an awesome Christmas Across the World Knitter's Swap Package!

Checking my list...

One Scarf down...
Two scarves in view...

1. Airy Scarf is coming along. (I also purchased US 10 needles for future Airy Scarves. I may like it a bit better, but I'm sticking with my US 10 1/2's for this one)

2. Purple Purl Scarf update, I have the larger needles, just need to get started

3. One pair of Urban Necessity Gloves needs to be casted on in Cascade 220

What else can I get done in time?
4. Maybe more mittens using Last Minute Knitted Gifts Pattern

(Yes, my list is a bit optimistic for my schedule. I'm hoping... countdown is getting a bit too scary at this point.)

I have also been gathering my upcoming swap gifts;

Christmas Around The World: Just one gift needs to be knitted. I have materials for what I intended to make, but not sure if I will make a dishcloth instead.

Winter Wonderland Coffee Swap: Gifts are almost done. Waiting to buy coffee right before it's shipped.

SP11: (last package) has been shipped and my identity will be revealed soon :)

Winter Stitch Marker Exchange is starting soon. Not sure what my partners like/dislike so I do not know if I need more materials.
